So with Christmas around the corner, I decided to do a small DIY tutorial. Everyone loves Christmas crackers, they are like mini presents before you get the real thing; I decided to put a twist on the concept by adding flowers. This Christmas Flower DIY tutorial will only take 30 min to make 6 botanical Xmas crackers and it would not be costly either.

What you need:

Christmas crackers (ideally empty of with something small inside)
Knife
Floristry tape
Scissors
Roses
Eucalyptus

How to:

Make sure that your roses had a nice drink before starting this DIY project. You don’t want them to wilt too quickly.

Cut roses and eucalyptus stems to 3-4 cm. Then create a mini bunches with one rose and one eucalyptus stem, tie them up with the floristry tape.

Now it is time to prepare Christmas crackers. For this DIY project, you should use empty crackers or ones containing something small like a paper hat. We will be putting flower stems inside the crackers so there shouldn’t be anything else inside. Make cross cuts on your crackers. You will need around 3 – 4 holes inside them.

Now it is time to decorate crackers with flowers. Start by putting one of the flower bunches inside the hole in the cracker. Ideally, the whole stem should go inside the cracker. If yours has a stem that it is too long just trim it. Keep adding flowers. Once all 3 bunches are inserted you are done! Great job.

This design should last a day minimum even without water. If you want yours to last longer you would have to use flower tube water containers.
