Great photographs are so important today, no matter what you are trying to achieve with them. Apps have come such a long way in ease of use and capability since Photoshop, read more Top 10 Best Mobile Apps to turn you into a Pro.

Photography was never this easy yet so many people are still struggling with it. The idea of great photography has become rooted in the modern culture. It’s something that most selfie takers, bloggers, marketers and everyone with a camera strive to achieve with each photograph. But unfortunately only a few succeed.

I decided to analyze photography apps available in the apple store to help determine the 10 best ones. This way you will know what app to install and what for. Just a bit of practice with the apps and you will never have to settle for less than a perfect pic.

In this post, I will use my flower photographs since they are my main subject, but the apps reviewed are great for any type of photography.

It’s worth mentioning that I am biased towards adobe apps as I think they have done a great job of pivoting towards mobile and if you are a CC customer you get plenty of handy features like clipboard control and picture sync

1. Lightroom | Cost: Free | IOS/Android

This app is amazing for subtly improving shots like color correction, clarity improvement, and exposure adjustment. The interface is more complicated and it will take a bit of time to get used to it, but results are worth it. When you are done with editing you will have same results which you could have on a computer and this is mind blowing.

2. Photoshop Mix | Cost: Free | IOS/Android

Perfect app for unwanted object removal. When photographing flowers I constantly get small unwanted objects in my shots like dust, scratches, and leaf imperfections. All of the above can be easily fixed in the app.

In order to remove imperfections open your image in Photoshop Mix then click Fill tool and select area that you want to fix and then click tick.

3. Photoshop Fix | Cost: Free | IOS

Great app for adjusting face features, spot healing, and painting color. Spot healing feature is similar to the one offered in Photoshop Mix and if this is the only function that you need from this app then you don’t need it provided that you already have Photoshop Mix installed. But if you want to color objects and adjust your images then go for it.

4. Enlight | Cost: £2.99 | IOS

This is the most full-featured mobile photo app that I have come across thus far. I mainly use it for artistic filters like double exposure, effects like adding random splotches, and to add text. The app is packed with vacuous features and so would not get lost creators provided tutorials inside the app. If you are looking for an all-in-one easy to use solution this app is for you.

5. Pixelmator | Cost: £3.99 | IOS

If you are a user of the Pixelmator desktop app for mac you already know just how powerful this software can be; The mobile version simply takes this package to your phone/tablet. What I love most of all about Pixelmator are the templates and effects that come with the app, these can help produce results that stand out. Most of all if you’re used to desktop photo editors with layer control and blending options, you’ll love Pixelmator as all of these features are still there.

6. Camera + | Cost: £2.29 | IOS

There are many good camera replacement apps in the AppStore, if you take a lot of pictures you will soon come across the limitations of the default camera app. Camera plus adds a whole host of features to take your photography to the next level, for example, the ability to separate focus and brightness points and separate brightness controls will mean you can get perfectly exposed photos even in darker conditions. What’s more, the built-in level guide will make sure your pictures are always straight (nothing annoys me more than having to fix a whole series in a post because I held the iPhone wrong).

8. Google plus Photos | Cost: Free | IOS/Android

If you are anything like me you take thousands of Pics a month and quickly run out of storage. An easy way to fix this is to use Google’s Photo app, while not remarkable as a gallery it does offer UNLIMITED PHOTO BACKUPS, this means that you can store all your photos in the world’s most reliable cloud for FREE. Moreover, the built-in AI occasionally produces some interesting gifs and edits for your pictures; makes one wonder about how far technology has come!

9. 500px | Cost: Free | IOS/Android

Instagram is great you’ll find plenty of inspirational pictures and what’s more, because of the social element it is quite addictive. But more often than not you’ll end up coming across sub-standard pictures take by non-professionals, which can get boring very quickly. This is where 500px comes in, this app is like Instagram but it’s geared more towards professional photographers, you will find plenty of inspiration from the best photographers. Furthermore, you can sell your photos as prints or stock without leaving the app and make money.

10. PicsArt/Prisma | Cost: Free | IOS/Android

Last space I decided to share between 2 Apps: Prisma and PicsArt. Prisma is an established app compare to PicsArt but it lacks certain features that PicsArt is offering. Both apps are providing creative filters out of this world, but only PicsArt allows you to download images in their original size Prisma is great for posting your images on Instagram, but not so great for general Photo editing.

Both Images are edited with PicsArt
